1. X by Themeco
We’ve always been accustomed with the very best releases from Themeco and now they’ve done it yet again with the new 3.0 release. Their one and only X theme is all the rage when it comes to flexibility, aesthetics, functionality and good taste. Moreover, it comes with four different stacks that allow you to select from multiple designs with just the click of a mouse. The Integrity stack astonishes with clean and elegant lines, thus being best suited for business or creative sites. The Renew stack rocks the trendy flat design and goes perfectly well with creative personalities and websites. The modern blogging networks inspired Icon, a stack with a minimal style that can be customized to suit all preferences. Lastly, if you want to create cool magazine or newspaper sites, choose the Ethos stack. What’s really amazing about Themeco is that they’ve come up with an unsurpassable offer: if you purchase one Themeco X license for your projects, with each purchase you make you will get all stacks, the Live Previewer and many more benefits: the 3.0 release comes with new extensions as well as beautiful WordPress plugins which excel in functionality (for example e-mail integration with MailChimp and marketing tools such as video lock and content dock). Designers and developers are growing in numbers and plenty of these folks have outstanding portfolios. The common advantage of the Internet is that anybody from anywhere in the world can check out your projects during any time of the day! If you wish to land more freelance work then I would recommend taking a peek at your current portfolio to see if anything could be updated.
And to help with building ideas for your own website, I have collected 200 various portfolios of graphics designers, developers, writers, and other digital creatives. This is a massive showcase gallery full of design inspiration for unique portfolio layouts. I strived to include only designs which really change things up from the typical portfolio website templates. Plus in addition to these design examples, I would love to read other people’s thoughts on how to build a great portfolio site in the comments section.
The process of putting together a good user experience design has always been talked about as a deliverables-based practice where bureaucracy, specification documents, wireframes, mockups and site maps took the center stage. This deliverable based practice, meaning that everything, each step of the process, has to be delivered with proper timing and documentation, witch often demands a lot of time and creates a lot of waste (something that won’t be used in the working product). Fast forward to times where the web changes quickly than we would like to, and times where we have to make sure our users get what they need, and the process of ux design has to evolve too. Enter the Lean UX practice, which allow us to remove waste from the UX design process while letting designers focus on what works instead of having them worrying about features and documents.
