Passing the days of uncertainty of new contract may force new freelancers to give up and get into a salary mode; but persons who manage this uncertainty will succeed.

I was laid off and catapulted into doing freelance, but to back up a few steps… While I had a full time job, I paid off debt, loans and put a little cash away. Something I suggest to everyone who can currently do that! The blow wasn’t as hard with those things in order and a strong family support was a bonus, but if you don’t have that, create your OWN family of supporters and get your finances in line. Then when you are ready to take the plunge or are laid off, you can transition. Staying positive, moving forward and keeping yourself motivated are extremely important too! There is plenty of work out there for all of us!

I’m currently part time freelancing, casual crew at McDonald’s, and full time university student. Considering quitting McDonald’s now, then full time freelancing after my degree.
