I said "some logos might only be created for a website with no intent of ever using them in print." It's close but not the same thing. I agree with you that it is best to have a versatile logo, however, I think it's not accurate to assume that all logos need to be created with print in mind. Maybe as a logo designer who is doing work for a client, than yes, I would say it's best to keep it versatile. But if I were to work on a logo for a small website of my own that was unlikely to ever have anything printed, I would be more concerned about creating a logo that looks good online, even if it means it may not be good for printing. You can't predict where that company will want to show itself. It's very short sighted to say never in print. What happens when your best client asks you to sponsor an event and all you need to do is supply your logo for the program.
