Most designers are happy to find inspiration in various forms of daily life. Product design can be an interesting source of inspiration, as there are creative and well-designed products all around us. The products featured here may not be common things that you see everyday, but most of them are fairly typical products designed in a unique way. (Click on the photos to see more from Behance.)

Seriously cool collection man, nice one. My favorite has to be the rocking chair… Love it!

    they look cool
but they are not practical or constable

  9. chris on March 9th, 2009

    very cool stuff..tasteful indeed!

    Katyuska Rojas,

What’s impractical about these? Look at the sugar cubes, all you would need to change is something minor in the manufacturing process. Even if that cost more you could offset it with slightly higher prices and still be successful. Obviously there is also a market for the chairs and the electronics which might seem less practical.

Maybe these wouldn’t work for middle America (even though there is a good chance they would) but certainly any one of these would be a blockbuster in the appropriate market. In other words, they are practical if you, or the people you sell them too, have a little imagination.

Constable is a job in law enforcement.

Very nice, innovative and generally useful items.

It always amuses me when people start to pick faults – truth be told, there are some very desirable items here.

I think the chairs are from Kubrick’s 2001 A Space Odyssey. Anyone?

  13. bcoo on March 12th, 2009

can i acquire/buy any of these items or are they all purely conceptual?

  14. Steven Snell on March 12th, 2009

    bcoo,
I’m not sure. My guess is some are available and some are just concepts.

That sewer grate key holder makes me nervous.

  16. Jericho on March 14th, 2009

I really love some of the items here, if I could find a place to buy them I would. Although the wireless ear buds might be a nuisance if I ever lost one….

Really brilliant and inspirational collection, product design can be innovative and unique, but with the designs above you can see there is a connection and reasoning behind the design, i.e. the sugar lump, the milk jug and key holder.
