    December 11, 2009

Hmmm, i thought jQuery killed flash :), it’s hard to find nice flash sites these days.

  6. December 11, 2009

I am with borisg. flash is only pieces of code not for a cms. Nowadays jquery is the King.

  7. December 11, 2009

I’ve never really looked at flash content management systems, I found your article really insightful!

The questions regarding flash not being ‘visible’ to search engines could be no longer. Someone (Google Webmasters Blog?) released something about flash becoming readible – so these may all become very popular soon!

As far as I understand only AuroraFlash is completely free right? Or what?

  9. December 12, 2009

    Hey Andy

Thank you for this article, I appreciate to discover new Flash CMS every day 🙂

And I believe it is the right time to talk about this, because I see that everything is moving this way.

Silex is the ancester of all the other Flash CMS since we develop it for 7 years now and it is open source since 2007. I think that the community is something that you have to take into account. We are in something like 50 countries, it is a great pleasure to see how many websites are produced every month.

I think that we could do a kind of matrix with the data in this article. The important points I see to classify and distinguish all these CMS are
    – license (free, OS, have to pay)
    – online WYSIWYG (yes/no)
    – the user own his data vs hosted online service
    – need of Flash IDE (yes/no)
    – can work together with Flash IDE (yes/no)
    – has a plugin system and API for developpers to contribute/extend the CMS (yes/no)
    – may be used to produce any Flash website (yes/no, for example, is there a set of components or is it possible to customize all the components)
    – possible level of customization (from 50% to 100%, for example the loader, the “no-flash” page, the scroll bars, …)

What do you think of that?
    Thank you again,

Silex and FlashDance are also free, but only Silex is open source! And Silex website is http://silex-ria.org

  10. December 12, 2009

Anyone tried Gaia out there? It seems like it requires a little more programming than some of these options, but it’s extremely powerful and flexible. I’m going to check out a few of these as well.

  11. December 13, 2009

Thanks for the post. There are definitely some interesting solutions here.

If you have any questions about Royale/CMS feel free to email me at sales@royalecms.com

Adobe ICE Technology doesn’t count it is not Flash based technology.

All other solutions look great, however I do agree with Lex – all solutions need to be properly categorized. It would be better if you revise the listing and do some homework and publish a new summary with better organized structure.
