50 High-Quality Free Fonts for Professional Design

Nice to see more serifed typefaces getting released.
Quicksand is free for non-commercial use only, meaning that it is NOT free for _professional_ design. You guys should really pay close attention to the licensing terms, I’m sure Quicksand is not alone of its kind on this list.

Sansation is my favorite free font in this list. I always start out with that one in a design to see if it works out or not. And it usually does.

This list is great until you try to download a font.
Broken links and links to paid font sites abound.

Quicksand has been removed from the list. The license data at Font Squirrel is not real clear. But you’re right, I searched and found another site that said it was for personal use.

If you can be more specific about broken links I can get that fixed. The page has no broken links at this time. Yes, some of the links point to paid font sites, but those sites do give away some fonts (at least in some weights) for free.

That link was wrong, but it’s fixed now. ITC Chino Black Italic is free, the other weights are not free. If you click on the link now you will see that you can download black italic for free.

Quicksand is indeed free for commercial use. I just updated the license on our site. The author states in the typophile forum here: http://www.typophile.com/node/50437#comment-346232 that commercial use is ok.

It is the best typography forum for graphic designers / typographers on the internet. I believe it is an invite only site, similar to ffffound and behance, but a little more homegrown, personal and underground, but the content they have available is amazing. Simply Amazing.

Yes, it would be easier, but it would also violate the licenses of each font because I would be re-distributing them.

character map search is awesome! Saved some time when looking for specific character maps supported.
Thank you *burp*. You can never have enough well designer and usable serif fonts, with a bunch of sans-serifs thrown in there too. There are way too many junk fonts out there that are utterly useless for anything except a kids party poster.
