Patterns are a designer’s friend, but use them with care and subtility because they can enhance a design or ruin it if misused. You have to carefully decide what status they need to be given : major design element or subtle enhancement like rich background or soft enrichment ? Don’t use them because they are nice but choose them because they give meaning an depth to a design.
