Inspiration: Interesting & Unique Typographic Book Covers
Books offer graphic designers, illustrators and typographers a great way to expand their portfolios. There are endless possibilities that can be explored when designing for book covers, and often are explored, as can be seen in this post.
I’ve had an increased interest in book covers recently after putting together another showcase at The Inspiration Blog on minimalistic book covers, since then I have been browsing for book cover inspiration daily so thought I would share some of my findings here at DesignM.ag. As can be seen above, there are a lot of areas to explore with book covers – for young, budding designers, redesigning the cover of your favorite book is a superb way to learn new skills and increase the size and quality of your portfolio.

The typography is brilliant. Book covers a great for viewing some amazing designs. ‘Then We Came To The End’ Is definitely my favourite.
I’ve always really liked the book cover for “Watchmen” (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Watchmen-Alan-Moore/dp/0930289234/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282641766&sr=8-12), thought the typography on that was good.
I even tried to mimic it in a design i tried which you can see over in my blog (http://www.ehhwhat.co.uk/blog/?p=83)
Favourite here is “No country for old men” and “we are the friction”

These are amazing. I especially want to read “We Are Friction”, now. Though I am disappointed in the lack of ghost boats, the sentient muffin makes up for it.
This is an immense collection of typographical front covers, definitely an inspirational post, so many eclectic style and genres.

This is a great collection of book covers that show great use of typography. I think the Rendezvous With Rama book cover is amazing. I love the simplicity of the design for the cover. The way the typography has been displayed, really does make this cover stand out from the crowd.
